It gives me cheer to see light in your eyes
Determination to meet each surprise
Your animation aglow with each stride
Long will the road be, but your vista wide

I love to see youthful vigor and strength
Confidence that you can toil the length
Revel and frolic, and let your pride swell
Steadfast and truthful, I know you'll do well

Sadly, so many, their eyes dim and droop
Hunching their shoulders, their backs are all stooped
Broken, defeated, they shuffle, no will
Passions have burned bright, then flickered, gone still

That's why it thrills me to see you with joy
Blood coursing through you, a self-assured boy
God said to Adam, rule over the earth
Boldly you go out to conquer with mirth.
