LOVE WITHOUT THE DRAMA

LOVE WITHOUT THE DRAMA accurately describes the relationships of people who have been together for quite some time.

My husband and I have been married since 2010, and most pop songs about love are eye-roll inducing. "Drama queens/kings," is what I usually mutter under my breath when listening to these songs.

Thus, "Love Without the Drama" was born. The incidents displayed in this video are all actual incidents that regularly occur in our daily lives. (My husband vetoed me picking my nose in the video.)

LYRICS

When we first met
Back in the past
Just seeing you made my heart pitter fast
Was on a high
Danced butterflies
Each time we grazed up real close with our eyes

That’s when I felt all the hype was true
Soulmate cliches all applied with you

And now it’s been several years and we’re settled down
We’ve drifted from our cloud nine and we’re on the ground
Still like to say, “Darling, honey” when you’re around
But it’s love, love without the drama
We live our lives eating soup at home
Sometimes we’re in separate rooms just to be alone
And all the butterflies one by one flew back home
Cuz it’s love, love without the drama
Love, love without the drama

Now when we hear
The radio
Gotta admit we give our eyes a roll
It’s Romeo
And Juliet
Their passion led to their deaths, don’t forget

No, I you go, I won't stab  myself
We could've both been with someone else

Cuz now it’s been several years and we’re settled down
We’ve drifted from our cloud nine and we’re on the ground
Still like to say, “Darling, honey” when you're around
But it’s love, love without the drama
Sometimes we fight and  we lose respect
But then we calm down and realize we’re not perfect
And at the end of the day, what you give, you get
And that’s love, love without the drama
Love, love without the drama

I know some people dislike this prosaic feel
But this is true tender love, this is full, it’s real
You take the good and the bad, no more faults concealed
That’s love, love without the drama

We know our dark secrets, we cry, we shout
But we still forge on together, it’s what life’s about
And when you know someone well, know them inside out
That’s love, love without the drama
We still walk happy upon life’s path
It’s just the drama and tension that’s in the past
And what we have now is solid, it’s built to last
We have love, love without the drama
Love, love without the drama
Love, love without the drama
